CELEBRATING OVER 50 YEARS
The Lincoln Country Day School (“LCD”) was established in 1958 and is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of
Early Education and Care. LCD serves many communities including Lincoln, Wayland, Weston, Concord and Sudbury.
It is conveniently located adjacent to conservation land and within walking distance of Codman Farm, a train
trestle and the Lincoln Fire Station. The recently renovated classrooms are sunny and large.
Each classroom provides developmentally appropriate materials and play-centered environments.
Our students explore their world through a variety of art media, science experiments, drama, music,
literature and indoor/outdoor gross motor activities. This curriculum allows each child to develop confidence
in his or her academic and social abilities so they are better able to enter new situations, make new friends,
take risks and know they have the ability to problem solve for themselves as well as for a group.
Weather permitting, we spend time outside each day, either on our
enclosed playground or taking a nature walk through the beautiful
abutting conservation areas.
The LCD staff strongly believes in continual contact between home and school.
Your child’s teacher will greet them every morning at drop-off, and will deliver them to you at pick-up.
Conferences are held in the Fall and Spring, and weekly newsletters are written by each team of teachers.
The Co-Directors communicate weekly with families through e-mail. A director is present in the school every
day to answer any questions.
“I feel that one of the differences which sets LCD apart is that the teachers are truly exceptional.
They are smart, nurturing, creative and always smiling. They make you feel good.”
Cathy Loving – LCD Parent
EXTENDED DAY
An Extended Day Program (LUNCH BUNCH!) is offered every day at Lincoln Country Day School.
As a convenience for our families, there is no advanced sign up. Parents are given the option of deciding
each morning whether it will be a Lunch Bunch day for their child. This flexible sign-up has been very
popular with LCD families. Lunch Bunch is an opportunity for children to spend time with friends in a
comfortable, familiar setting. Lunch Bunchers are given the option of staying until either 1:00 or 2:00.
SPECIAL EVENTS
The Lincoln Country Day School offers special events throughout the school year, some school-wide, and some
specific to a classroom. Our all-school events include visits from the Lincoln Children’s Library, the
Post Office, and the Fire Department. Periodically, we also offer special after school enrichment programs
throughout the year. Instead of a regular Lunch Bunch day, LCD provides a fun and nutritious lunch for the
children followed by a project, music and a story. Additionally, educators such as Audobon Ark, Curious
Creatures and Puddlestompers are invited to share their talents. Within individual classrooms, special
activities include a Teddy Bear Picnic, a Harvest Breakfast, Moms and Dads mornings and trips to Codman Farm.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Lincoln Country Day School’s philosophy is based on two concepts. First, we believe that each child is a
unique individual who will develop physically, cognitively, emotionally and socially at his or her own pace.
We believe that children are competent learners, capable of embracing new ideas and engaging with the world
around them. Second, we believe children learn through play. Play is their work. It is through play that
children practice their social skills. Through play, academic concepts are introduced and children have a
chance to use their imagination. Through play, children will naturally learn to become independent critical
thinkers.
We like to think that children consider Lincoln Country Day School their second home . . . a place where they
are accepted and loved . . . a place where laughter and play are treasured.
OUR TEACHERS
We hold special pride in our school’s professional staff. Selected for their knowledge of child development
as well as their strong interpersonal skills, they are the strength of our program. When visiting
Lincoln Country Day School, please take time to listen, to watch, and to learn from this unique team.
You will be enriched.
